Not just the headlining of the Fiat 850 has kept us busy in recent weeks, the finishing of the engine compartment and the underside have also taken a lot of time. An real time-guzzler was the rubber cover at the end of the tunnel. This is a panel made of steel with rubber at the back through which rods, cables and pipes run from front to back. That panel was rather mediocre and in order to at least minimize the chance of leakage, a piece of rubber was glued behind it (for which an old inner tube was used):

It was quite a puzzle to get the right item through each hole, but eventually I got everything in place. Clutch adjusted, throttle and choke cable ditto.
